Planning Tips Leading Up To Your Wedding Day

Updated: Jan 21, 2022

I’ll be honest, the week of your wedding is going to be crazy. You might think everything is going to be done but there’s something you’ll do to fill that empty void of time. If you’re like most of my brides then you probably won't be sleeping much. You’ll lay down in bed only to have something pop up in your mind like “Where did I put the groom’s socks!?”

This happens to the best of brides. Even the brides that are the most organized and even the brides who have been planning the wedding for two years. You most likely cannot get out of feeling like you’re running a marathon in the end so I am going to give you the best tips on how to prepare and manage once it hits.

  1. Take something to help You sleep. No seriously, starting 7 days before your wedding by 8pm every night you need to take a little something to help you start relaxing. I’m not talking about any hard-core drugs people, but I am saying whatever works for you to help you sleep medically, well now’s the time to pull that puppy out.

  2. Pick a due date to be hands-off. Look at the calendar and decide what day YOU want to be fully hands-off so you can relax. Most Brides think they have to work until the moment they walk down the aisle but that’s just not the case. Pick a date and then make sure everything is passed off to the designated person by then.

  3. Pack a “details” bag. Your great-grandmas lace that you had made into a garter and you don't want to forget it day of- make sure to put this in a small tote bag that you will label as you “details” bag. I usually give my brides a bag that says “Bride” in the biggest letters possible. That way if anyone needs anything on the day of (like your photographer) you can tell them ahead of time to look for this bag. Easy to find and easy to throw things in it as you think about it!

  4. Get your rings cleaned. This is one you can do a day or two before your wedding but once you get them cleaned make sure you don't wear them too much. You’ll thank yourself later!

  5. Utilize your Maid of Honor. Make sure to fill in your #1 girl on anything important and pass along her number to all important parties. This way if anyone has any questions, such as the guest that wasnt paying any attention to your details card, they have someone besides you to contact!

  6. Hire help. Having your crafty family member who swears they don’t mind helping is great and all but there is nothing like paying for someone to decorate, set up and takedown and coordinate your wedding. Save the family member to help with the small things like bringing all of your gifts back and splurge on the rest. It’s worth the money.

  7. Don’t just get a day of coordinator. This may seem like a sales pitch but I promise, it’s not. You may notice our packages are more than 1 day, that’s because most of our brides spend a couple of years planning their wedding and there is absolutely no way someone can be caught up on everything needed to be done the day of. No matter how sweet it may look in savings it truly won’t save you time. We recommend at minimum hiring someone at least 2 weeks out and even then, that’s cutting it close!
